A Digital Account Manager’s Christmas Wish List

Dear Google Claus,

As December is now upon us, Black Friday is over, the office tree is up and Secret Santa’s picked, I have finally had a spare 5 minutes to think about Christmas for myself – you know, some account manager ‘me time’. Now of course I would love a Michael Kors handbag, a new pair of UGGs and most definitely the latest Google Chrome Cast for Christmas, but Santa I know you’re not made of money and I wouldn’t want to be greedy. So I have come up with a more streamlined list which the Google elves might be able to help me out with, and of course all the other account managers out there.

My Christmas Wish List:

Mobile search terms

We’ve got the all keyword search terms, individual search terms, shopping search queries as well as the dimensions search term report, however what I would really like is a search query report driven by device. So I can really find out what kind of search terms are actually being searched on a mobile device

Now I know you can run a ‘search terms’ report and then apply a segment to device, but come on that’s a migraine waiting to happen. Yes useful if you have the time and patience, but who has time in this industry…anyone? I would just love a report where I can see search terms, from a mobile, that I can shuffle and sort till my little hearts content.

Advert Changes

Recently one of my clients changed the entire site from HTTP to HTTPS, meaning as the agency we had the task of changing all previous URL’s to the HTTPS variant. Easy we thought, whack them into Ad Editor, run a find and replace, done. Wrong.

The keyword URL’s were a breeze, so easy. However the ads, not so friendly. Now for people reading this who don’t already know, when you edit an ad, even just a punctuation mark, the ad will reset itself and all previous data will be lost. For example, this means when you want to change delivery from 4pm to 5pm, you have to copy the ad- edit the text- save the ad- wait for it to be reviewed- put the new ad live- then finally pause the old one. It’s a right palaver.

We tried using Ad Editor but the large quantity just froze the account like we were running on dial up. So I would love a slight alteration to ad editing, please Google Claus make it easier to change URLs on an ad. Please?

Logging into Google Analytics & Google Merchant Centre

Why, just why is it so difficult to log into Analytics? They changed the log in page and I was excited only to be crushed back down to my wheelie chair… as it has got worse!

The merchant centre is worse, if you happen to be logged in to another account then try and log into the MC, it will just continually redirect you to the sign up page. So you have to open another tab get Google up, log out then go back to the Merchant centre to log in. WHAT? WHY?

Sorry I got a bit carried away on that one.

Anyway if I could just end the list with, a yellow unicorn lamp, a dinosaur candle and a spiralizer.
